Well, you have likely heard about coaching before. You have probably heard of tennis coaches and football coaches. And there are similarities to what sports coaches do and lifestyle/health coaches do.
Both types of coaches are determined to assist the athlete or the client do something better. Whether is is a stronger backhand or creating a healthy mindset, the coach plays the role of encourager and supporter.
But there are differences too.
A sports coach will tell an athlete what to do or not do. A health coach does not generally do this. A health coach will instead ask the client a lot of questions. These questions will eventually delve into the heart of the matter and discover whatever is blocking a healthier behavior. The curiosity of the coach, coupled with the client’s motivation for change, can often be a powerful combination.
Now, there are times when people believe that coaching is counseling or therapy. That is not the case. While there are many coaches who are, or were, therapists, the professional orientation is quite different. Therapy does a really good job with helping people examine their past, perhaps uncovering what went wrong and still affects the client’s emotions today. Coaching, on the other hand, does an excellent job in assisting the client see the future – what can be different, what can done in creating a better way of living.

Here’s How It Will Work
Simply EMAIL me (russell at ministerofhealth dot org). We will set up a convenient time when we can talk. I’ll send you a form in advance that will be used to focus our conversation. This call will help me asses if I can be of help and we’ll both make sure we are a good fit as coach and client. When you decide to hire me I’ll email you a Welcome Packet. The welcome packet will provide a general outline of our telephone sessions.
Once I receive your forms, and payment, we will set up a time for our first session.
Change does not typically occur overnight. Additionally, drastic changes do not generally stick as well as small, but cumulative, changes. Because of this, I generally work with people for six months at a time. Some clients, who have worked with me in the past, prefer a one or two session follow-up down the road.
Do not hesitate to email me with any questions about my coaching service.
I hope you will have the courage to take that step to invest in your health, give me a call or send me an email, and, together, we can get you on the road to better health!
